Here we go, some actual story and exposition are happening! I sat down and thought long and hard about what might motivate two people who have everything they reasonably need in life to trust each other, and work together, and then also have a valid reason to go out on a multi-day road trip adventure through deadly territories.

In the end, I figured that a pre-collapse aid or triage center would fit the bill, supplying the community with sterile medicine and keeping people alive for years to come at the hands of a skilled former-veterinarian-turned-doctor.
