A word ahead for anyone wondering: I am using ChatGPT to generate the artwork for this comic, and I know that some people will be turned off by that.

I am a programmer by trade, a writer by heart, and I poured a ton of heart and love into creating the Python script that powers this website, as a hobby project because I found it strangely impossible to find a simple webcomic generator that works with netlify (or a similar static site host). There is just nothing, only Wordpress or using the established webcomic sites - and I wanted something to call my own, and build the way I like it.

So, several weeks of evening work later, I had built this fancy little website here that auto-deploys to netlify, handles image conversion, scaling and optimization, generates the HTML pages with the correct links and dynamic handling of previous / next / first and last pages, and the random button. To top it off, I built a fun little GUI that allows me to make the posts and schedule them - something that I have not seen anywhere so far.

So, at the end of all that, I had a functioning tool that was just too good to throw away on the pile of finished but ultimately useless side projects, and I figured that while I still can't draw more than stick figures, I really wanted to build something from this project.

So here we are, and I am already 12 pages deep as I type this, into a comic that I myself would want to read, and honestly, I love the artwork, the style and the consistency, so fuck it, I'm gonna build a comic from now on, like I would want to read.

There aren't many story-focused webcomics out there, and I get why, because even making these pages with ChatGPT, it still takes hours to end up with a page that I like, and that is without the literally weeks worth of work that a single page would take to draw by hand.

Anyway, long rant over: I hope y'all enjoy my efforts here, I've been looking for a side project that I enjoy working on after work for a long time now, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.
